Show notes

Jason Easton from Rockbreakers UK joins the Business Babble lads for a proper behind the scenes chat on what it really takes to build a plant hire and attachments business over 21 years.

Jason breaks down how Rockbreakers grew from a small start into a UK wide operation supplying excavator attachments from 1 ton to 75 ton machines. He shares the turning points that shaped the business, from landing early manufacturer backing and a huge finance deal, to surviving the 2008 to 2010 construction crash and adapting through Covid.

You’ll hear practical lessons on cash flow and utilisation, why supply chain relationships can make or break you, how to retain good staff, and why scaling only works when the business is not totally dependent on the owner. There’s also a great section on “luck” versus “making your own luck”, and the mindset needed to keep moving when things get tough.

If you’re building any kind of service or hire business, this one is packed with real world insight and no nonsense experience.
